What is SPSS?

SPSS stands for Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, and it is used for complex statistical data analysis by a variety of researchers. SPSS was designed for the management and statistical analysis of social science data. SPSS is widely regarded as the world standard for social-science data analysis due to its simple and English-like command language and impressively thorough user manual. SPSS is used for processing and analysing survey data collected by market researchers, health researchers, survey companies, government entities, education researchers, data miners, and many others. The majority of top research firms use SPSS to analyse survey data and mine text data in order to get the most out of their research and survey projects.

SPSS Programs

SPSS introduces the following four programs that help researchers with their complex data analysis needs.

• Statistics Program: SPSS's statistics program provides a wide range of basic statistical functionality, including frequencies, cross-tabulation, bivariate statistics, and so on.
• Modeler Program: Using advanced statistical procedures, researchers can create and validate predictive models.
• Text Analytics for Surveys Program: It provides reliable feedback analysis. which results in a vision for the actual plan
• Visualisation Designer: Researchers discovered this visual designer data and used it to create a wide range of visuals such as density charts and radial box plots.

Types of SPSS

It has two types of views those are Variable View and Data View:

• Data View: The data view is structured as rows and columns. By importing a file or adding data manually, we can work with SPSS.
• Variable View: The data has to enter in the sheet named “variable view”. It allows us to customise the data type as required for analysing it.

Conclusion

The bottom line is that, while Excel is useful for data organisation, SPSS is better suited for in-depth data analysis. This tool is extremely useful for data analysis and visualisation.
